It pays to shop around when booking your airport taxi this summer.

Airport Taxi News July 2010

If you've booked your flights and hotel online, it may seem convenient to book your airport car from the same website, but this can often prove costly!

Through the Virgin Atlantic website, you can book a pickup from Gatwick Airport using Virgin's preferred taxi service Tristar to Chelmsford for around £150.  Not bad for a return journey, but this quote is only one way.  Although parking is included, the Dartford Crossing toll is not, adding another few pounds onto the total fare.  Therefore a return airport taxi to Heathrow or Gatwick is likely to set you back in the region of £300!

Meanwhile, Checker Cars, BAA Stansted's preferred (or expensive) taxi cab service provider from Stansted Airport are quoted as providing a one way journey from Stansted Airport to London for approximately £99 (click here).

A12 Cars will take you to Gatwick  or Heathrow Airports from Chelmsford or Ingatestone for £75 one way and £145 return; less than half the price of the airline or airport approved competition. We include one hour's waiting time and Dartford Crossing charges.  Our one way fares into London range from £55-£85 from London City in the east to Richmond in the west, depending on your point of origin. And of course, we are congestion charge exempt.

We also provide a daily newspaper and chilled mineral water on all pickups from Gatwick and Heathrow and our cars have leather seats and climate control.

For added convenience, you can now pay online using a credit card, with a £5 surcharge, here.
